About

Hello! I’m Liz (she/they).

On this blog, I’ll be posting recipes for healthy, affordable meals that generally require low effort to cook. I’m a lazy cook, but I still like to eat healthy, tasty meals without spending ridiculous amounts on takeout. All of my recipes are thoroughly tested. I’m an engineer by day, and in the kitchen I measure and test meticulously, iterating until I find the perfect method.

In 2019, a friend gave me an old slow cooker of hers that she didn’t need anymore, and I began experimenting. I fell in love almost immediately because dumping ingredients in a pot and coming back hours later to delicious food is basically my ideal method of cooking. I began acquiring more slow cookers so I could cook even more things this way. On my meal prep Sundays, I sometimes even use three at once!

I do also use other methods besides slow cooking, which I’ll share as well.

One of my biggest gripes with recipe sites is the inaccurate prep times listed. How many “30 minute meals” have I tried that are just… not? Way too many. For this blog, I will time myself to see how long it takes me, a regular person with average cooking skills, to cook these recipes. I will also include tips to help you save time and effort. I also recognize that not everyone is able to perform what are assumed to be basic prep steps, so I want to be honest about what each recipe requires.

I hope my recipes will help you feed yourself and your loved ones tasty, healthy meals!
